Attorneys representing T.I. in his federal weapons case asked the judge on Friday morning (October 19) to release their client on $2.2 million bond and place him under home confinement with electronic monitoring. The King of the South would also have to surrender his passport, submit to random searches of his residence and drug testing. According to the Associated Press, attorney Ed Garland even suggested that the court place a person at Tip’s home to monitor activities there. Prosecutors argued that, because of his prior criminal record, and considering the nature of his alleged crime, he poses a flight risk and is a danger to the community. The AP reports that several record executives, some from Tip’s label—Atlantic Records—were present in the courtroom and were prepared to offer a signature bond in excess of $1 million. The hearing is likely to continue into the afternoon, check for updates.
