Sophisticated and high tech kidnapping rings operate discreetly in this country. There is no publicity or statistics on these rings because the victims don’t report the crime to the authorities. They target wealthy families, usually a family going through marital difficulty. They kidnap children, demand a multi-million dollar ransom to be paid within 24 hours and they return the children safely with the threat, ‘if you go to the police, we will kidnap your child again.’ During the kidnapping, whomever-is assigned to watch the child is called every 45 minutes by the ringleader, if the ringleader misses a call, the captor assumes the ringleader is in jail and kills the child. We have been informed by a source, that one of these rings is still operating and has committed eight family related kidnappings with no end in sight.
